PROGRAMMING

The Police Protective Fund sponsors two programs:  PROCEED WITH CAUTION and OFFICER DOWN CRISIS RESPONSE

PROCEED WITH CAUTION is a nationwide public awareness campaign to encourage motorists to use care when passing public safety officers on the roadway.  The issue is of grave concern to public safety officials, as careless drivers have become the number one threat to their safety.

To date, PROCEED WITH CAUTION has reached millions of American drivers with a wide range of educational materials and one urgent appeal: “PROCEED WITH CAUTION” - POLICE AT WORK!

OFFICER DOWN CRISIS RESPONSE assists law enforcement agencies respond to a line-of-duty death crisis.

The death of a public safety officer places extra-ordinary demands on a department — functions largely outside the “core-proficiencies” of law enforcement professionals. Assisting agencies in preparing for and responding to these exceptional circumstances is what OFFICER DOWN CRISIS RESPONSE is all about. The program puts the wisdom and experience of public safety professionals who possess a lifetime of experience concerned with LOD crisis management within the reach of every department.
